Archaeological Consulting and Services, Inc. (ACS, Inc.) is a cultural resources management firm operating since 1976 in Dane County, Wisconsin. We are one of the most active cultural resources management firms in the Midwest, having conducted over 2120 projects in ten states.

Services
Our projects range from short duration surveys of bridge and road relocations, to surveys of thousands of acres of National Forests. Our literature and records studies range from individual buildings and archaeological sites to county-wide projects, and our historical architectural studies include power facilities and dams, paper mills, other industrial and commercial buildings, residences, bridges and harbor facilities.

Our Mission
At ACS, Inc., we enable our clients to meet their cultural resources compliance responsibilities in a timely, cost-effective manner that respects the importance of our archaeological, historical and architectural historical resources.
Staff
President Philip H. Salkin has conducted cultural resources studies since 1970. While teaching archaeology at the university level, Salkin founded ACS, Inc. and has guided it full-time since 1981.

Salkin also has perspective in cultural resources management from the view of the client. He was an alderman and mayor of the city of Verona, Wisconsin, a member of Dane County Board of supervisors, a regional plan commissioner, served for 15 years on various state boards and commissions including the Historic Preservation Board and was the government affairs director for the REALTOR Association of South-Central Wisconsin.

Salkin is assisted at ACS, Inc. by three senior staff who have a minimum of an M.A. degree, are on the list of archaeologists qualified to work in Wisconsin and are on the list of those qualified to work at cemetery, burial and mound sites.
